KIM
DIEHL
KD/2 –
ZINNIA BASKET
6-hour workshop –
all levels
Preserve
the charm of a cottage garden when you stitch these blossoms to be enjoyed
and snuggled into, long after summer’s warmth has faded. We’ll
begin our class by piecing the easy center basket block, and then focus
on Kim’s invisible machine appliqué method to add gently
curved blooms and leafs. Additional tips and instructions for the patchwork
and appliqué borders of this quilt will be covered as well. One
of Kim’s most requested classes! (Simple Traditions book required.)
Please arrive
for class with the patchwork pieces specified below pre-cut so that
we can make the best use of our time together. I’ve listed color
choices to duplicate my featured quilt, but please feel free to personalize
your prints to suit your own preferences.
Supply
List :
- Simple Traditions Book
- Sewing machine* with adjustable tension control, capable of producing
a tiny zigzag stitch
- Size 75/11 quilting needles for your sewing machine
- 3/8” bias bar
- Firm-surfaced ironing board and iron (travel-size or mini appliqué
irons work best in class situations, and can be shared between two people)

- .004 Monofilament thread (smoke for medium/dark prints, clear for
light/pastel prints)

is Quilter’s Choice by Beacon’s)
- Fray Check is helpful, but optional
* If your sewing
machine has an open-toe foot, a knee-lift attachment, and a spool pin
adapter for positioning your thread upright while you sew, please bring
them along.
