HH/2 - MASTERING MACHINE APPLIQUE
6-hour workshop – all levels

     Enjoy learning true, professional techniques for beautiful machine appliqué. The mock hand appliqué technique gives a hand appliqué appearance and is Harriet’s “instant gratification” technique. The class will include 4 hours of mock hand technique and 2 hours of exploring curved piecing a la appliqué, as well as a discussion period of many tips and other techniques. Workshop is based on her book, Mastering Machine Appliqué.

Supply List :

-2nd ed. Mastering Machine Appliqué by Harriet Hargrave
-size 60/8 sewing machine needles with universal points
-sewing machine with extension plate and blind stitch capabilities - necessary for all applications (Make sure that machine has adjustable and numerous stitch width capabilities)
-invisible nylon quilting thread (.004 very fine; preferably Sew Art brand, but YLI Wonder thread will do – these are the ONLY brands!)
-fabric basting glue stick (make sure they are fresh and smooth. Neeho, Ross & Uhu are good.)
-60/2 Mettler fine machine embroidery thread in black, gray #623 and white (articles 248 or 240, green printing on spool)
-sharp scissors
- notebook, Scotch tape
-open toe appliqué foot (a MUST!)
- iron and ironing surface
-paper scissors and small sharp embroidery scissors
- damp washcloth
-spray bottle for water
- 3 empty bobbins
-lamp, extension cord and power strip
- 2 safety pins
-freezer paper (white only, plastic coated like Reynolds)
- pencil for drawing

Fabrics:
- One (1) 12” square of background fabric for Love Tulip block (muslin okay)
- 1/8 yard each of 6 different prints for the Love Tulip block (see inside booklet cover)
- Thirty-two (32) 4½” squares of assorted prints – 16 light and 16 dark (Note: 2 colors can be used)
